Los Feliz Neighborhood Council

In January 2025, at a Los Feliz Trashbusters neighborhood cleanup, I learned about a vacancy on my local Neighborhood Council and was encouraged to apply. Five minutes after giving a short speech on Zoom, I was appointed as the new District E representative. I currently serve on the Governing Board as well as the Cultural Affairs, Outreach, Rules & Administration, and Community Defense Committees.

In LA, Neighborhood Councils are official government bodies that represent each of the city’s 99 neighborhoods. Representing your neighborhood is a volunteer position that includes virtually no tangible perks, aside from getting two minutes to speak at City Council meetings instead of one, a privilege I have never exercised. Still, I’ve found it incredibly rewarding to get to know my neighbors, learn about local government, and give back to my community.

Through my work on committees, I’ve helped plan neighborhood events like Porchfest (which I built a website for), The Disney Bros. Cartoon Studio Square block party (which I built an audio walking tour for), and the Los Feliz Writers Festival (for which I did not end a parenthetical sentence in a preposition). With the Board, I’ve helped draft community impact statements, written letters to our City Council, and awarded grants to local non-profits.

I'm up for reelection in 2027, and don't worry – I'm going to get real weird with the campaign.
