Zero Notes is a script library designed specifically for sharing polished drafts of your work with communities you trust, privately and securely. You can only access scripts people give you direct access to, and any scripts you download will be watermarked with your email address. It probably could have been a Google Drive, but I made an entire app platform for it because I'm a maniac.
The reason for all this is that I often only get to read friends’ scripts in early drafts, when they’re looking for notes. They primarily read messy, early drafts of my work, too. This means we rarely get to see the difference our notes made, because it can feel presumptuous to ask a writer to read again once something's done. After a script is polished, it may get read (or more likely skimmed) by managers, agents, producers, and execs, but rarely by other writers. I think that’s a problem.
I also wanted to create a space to read work by writers I’ve met, but haven’t read. Sure, I could email them asking for a script they’re proud of, but if they send something and I don’t love it, there’s still pressure to respond (and vice versa). On Zero Notes, a writer never knows if you’ve accessed their script, so if you don’t have anything nice to say, you don’t have to say anything at all.
