Enough - A Poem
On giving up greatness without giving up on goodness
2022 · Lenses: Words, Actual Sincerity · Roles: Writing
Sometimes I write poetry to try and express ideas that would feel too dry in prose. This is one of those poems - an attempt to capture the tension between ambition and contentment, and between the desire to change the world and the futility of individual action. It's about reconciling the life I imagined when I was young with the life I have now - and with the life I think I actually want.
See, not everything I write is dumb, funny, or ironic. I have a harder time sharing sincerity, though, which is probably why I placed this piece so far down the page.
